Bliss Balls

Ingredients

1 16 oz. jar sunflower seed butter

1/8-1/4 cup organic blackstrap molasses

¼ cup maple syrup

1 TBSP vanilla extract

4 TBSP cacao powder

2 TBSP Reishi Mushroom Powder

2 TBSP Astragulus Root Powder

IMG_7845Combine the first 4 ingredients together. Add the powders and blend together until mixed well. Taste and add more sweetness if desired. Roll into small balls. Roll into coconut or cacao powder. Eat and enjoy. Share the relaxing bliss with friends and family.

This recipe include nutrient dense foods like sunflower seeds,reishi mushrooms, cacao (Raw Chocolate) and astragulus root powder. Sunflower seeds are a rich source of protein. Eating just 3 ounces of sunflower seeds has 20 grams of protein. Sunflower seeds contain the polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats(MUFA).  The good fats! They lower LDL “bad Cholesterol”and raise HDL “Good Cholesterol” in the blood. Research shows that eating MUFA  prevent heart disease and stroke.  Sunflower seeds also contains health benefits of poly-phenol compounds that are powerful antioxidants which remove harmful molecules from the body. Sunflower seeds are a rich source of Vitamin E, folic acid and are one of the best sources of B-complex vitamins.

Reishi mushrooms have been shown to slow the aging process, detoxify the body, reduce inflammation, prevent cancer, strengthen immune system and boost energy.

Astragulus root is a powerful adaptogenic herb that is believed to support immune function.  Recent research has shown that Astragulus can protect DNA and increase longevity.

Using black strap molasses is an ingredient you do not see used anymore but it is a good source of iron and adds a rich flavor.  Feel free to experiment with other sweeteners like honey or brown rice syrup.  I hope you try this recipe!  It is healthier than prepackaged energy bars.  Let me know how you like it.
